This priming basket is designed to fit directly on to all 1.5" pumps. By having the pump intake turn directly into the basket, the resulting unit is as compact as possible. The strainer basket is very fine for catching the smallest snails, gravel, etc. When the basket is being used to draw water, a check flap valve must be installed before the basket close to the source water.
